This article will briefly introduce six points that must be paid attention to when installing diesel generator sets:

• The installation site shall be well ventilated, with sufficient air inlet at the generator end and good air outlet at the diesel engine end. The air outlet area should be more than 1.5 times the area of the water tank.

• The surroundings of the installation site should be kept clean and avoid placing items that can produce acidic, alkaline and other corrosive gases and vapors nearby. Conditional should be equipped with fire extinguishing device.

• For indoor use, the smoke exhaust pipe must be guided outdoors, the pipe diameter must be ≥ the diameter of the smoke outlet pipe of the muffler, and the elbow of the connected pipeline should not exceed 3 to ensure smooth smoke exhaust, and the pipe should be tilted down 5-10 degrees to avoid rainwater injection; if the exhaust pipe is installed vertically upward, a rain cover must be installed.

• When the foundation adopts concrete, the levelness shall be measured with a level ruler during installation, so that the unit is fixed on the horizontal foundation. Special anti-vibration pads or foot bolts shall be provided between the unit and the foundation.

• The shell of the unit must have reliable protective grounding. For generators that need direct grounding of neutral point, neutral grounding must be carried out by professional personnel and equipped with lightning protection devices. It is strictly forbidden to use the grounding device of commercial power for direct grounding of neutral point.

The two-way switch between the generator and the mains must be very reliable to prevent reverse power transmission. The wiring reliability of the two-way switch shall be inspected and approved by the local power supply department.
